Önyargının gerçeğe kurgusal yolculuğu: Shakespeare’in eserlerinde İslam anlayışı

Batı edebiyatının önemli yazarı Shakespeare eserlerinde İslâm’ı önyargıları ile ele almıştır. Shakespeare’in İslâm anlayışında göze çarpan özellikler, gerçekten uzak, gözlemden yoksun, araştırılmamış ve bilgiye dayanmamış olmasıdır. Oryantalistlerin asırlardır yaptığı gibi, Shakespeare de eserlerindeki marjinalleri ikili karşıtlık ilkesine göre değerlendirmektedir. Bu değerlendirmelerde, batılılara ait normlar üstün tutulurken, marjinallerin değerleri yok sayılmaktadır. Bu düşünce doğrultusunda, Shakespeare de İslâm’a ait her şeyi ya aşağılamış ya da yok saymıştır. Shakespeare’in İslam’a düşmanca yaklaşımını eserlerinde görmek mümkündür.

The fictional journey of prejudice to reality: The conception of Islam in Shakespeare’s plays

The important author of western literature, Shakespeare, deals İslam with his prejudices in his literary works. The conspicuous features of Shakespeare’s concept of Islam are lack of reality, observation, research and knowledge. Shakespeare assesses the marginals in his works according to binary opposition principle as the oriantalists do for centuries. In this assessment, the western values are accepted superior and the values of marginals are disregarded. For the porpose of these idea, Shakespeare disregards or degrades every kind of values of Islam. It is possible too see Shakespeare’s antagonistic approach in his works.
