Avrupa’da Roma İmparatorluğu’nun mirası olan özel durumdaki Latin dilleri dışında, Germen ve Slav dillerinin yayılışıyla, birçok yerli dil yok olma aşamasına gelmiş, konuşan sayısı çok azalmıştır. Gene de dünyada bugün konuşulan dillerinin büyük çoğunluğunun geleceği tehlikedeyken, Avrupa’da bazı dilleri yaşatma gayreti de sonuç vermektedir.

The languages on the way to extinction

Other than the Latin languages being the heirs of the Roman Empire, the German and Slav languages have conquered Europe. The present essay discusses the problem of the vaning of many vernacular languages.
