GÖRELİ YOKSULLUK YAKLAŞIMI VE TÜRKİYE İÇİN UYGUNLUĞU

Bu çalışmada, göreli yoksulluğun Türkiye'nin refah seviyesi ve gelir dağılımı yapısı dikkate alındığında uygun olup olmadığı tartışılmaktadır. TÜİK'in yayınladığı yoksulluk ve gelir dağılımı verileri üzerinden yapılan hesaplamalar, Türkiye'de mutlak yoksulluğun halen önemli bir sorun olduğunu göstermektedir. Göreli yoksulluğun kullanılması, yoksulluğun şiddetini ve yaygınlığını tam olarak yansıtmamaktadır.

RELATIVE POVERTY APPROACH AND ITS SUITABILITY FOR TURKEY

This study aims to discuss whether it is appropriate to use relative poverty approach in terms of income distribution structure and economic development in Turkey. Results of this work shows that absolute poverty is still a problem in Turkey. The use of relative poverty does not reflect exactly the prevalence and severity of poverty.
