Analysis of Competitive Performances with ENTROPY-Based WASPAS and COPRAS Methods: The Example of Scandinavian Countries
With globalization, indices or criteria measuring the competitive performance of countries were needed. In this sense, the Global Competitiveness Indices (GCI) of the countries were determined by the World Economic Forum and the competitive performances of these countries were evaluated within the scope of the report. The first aim of the study is to determine the significance levels of the components that make up the GCI for 2019, using the ENTROPY method, according to the Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland). The second aim of the study is to determine the competitive performance values of the countries within the scope of the values of the components determining the GCIs and indices of the countries by using ENTROPY-based WASPAS and COPRAS techniques. According to the findings, with the ENTROPY method, the most important competitive component for countries was determined as market size. Within the scope of ENTROPY-based WASPAS and COPRAS methods, the competitive performance values of the countries are listed as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland. In addition, it has been determined that the competitive performance values of the countries are in high scores within the framework of the KRE and ENTROPY based WASPAS and COPRAS methods. Therefore, it is evaluated that the high scores of the competitive performances of the Scandinavian countries may cause the economic and social dimensions of the countries in question to increase their performance. In addition, it has been concluded that countries, especially Iceland, can increase their competitive performance by paying attention to market size. Within the framework of the method, there is a high correlation between the competition performance values of the countries calculated with the KRE and the ENTROPY based WASPAS and COPRAS methods (rWASPAS-KRE = 0.917, rCOPRAS-KRE = 0,916), it has been found that the competitive performances of countries within the scope of GCI values can be explained in general terms with ENTROPY-based WASPAS and COPRAS methods.
