Sendikal yoğunluk oranı ile iktisadi büyüme arasındaki ilişki: OECD ülkeleri üzerine bir zaman serisi analizi

İktisadi büyümenin nedenlerini açıklamayı konu edinen çok sayıda uygulamalı çalışma olmasına rağmen, ülkeler arasında iktisadi büyüme sürecindeki farklılıklar üzerinde yarattığı etkiler ne- deniyle sendikal hareketler hakkında çok az şey bilinmektedir. Ayrıca, sendikaların ülke ekonomisini nasıl etkilediği konusunda da hala bir mutabakat sağlanamamıştır. Bu amaçla, çalış- mada sendikal hareketlerin iktisadi büyüme üzerindeki etkileri 33 OECD ülkesinde 1970-2011 dönemi için zaman serisi analizleri kullanılarak araştırılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları; Çek Cumhuriyeti, Fransa, Japonya, Kore, Slovenya ve İspanya hariç olmak üzere diğer ülkeler için sendikal hareketler ile iktisadi büyüme arasında eşbütünleşik ilişkilerin varlığını göstermiştir. Ayrıca, uzun dönemli ilişkilerin elde edilemediği ülkelerin yanı sıra bazı ülkeler için de ilgili değişkenler arasında herhangi bir nedensellik bağının olmadığı da gözlenmiştir. İlaveten, sendikal hareketlerde meydana gelen bir artışın iktisadi büyüme sürecini negatif yönlü etkileyeceği de tespit edilmiştir.

The relationship between the rate of trade union density and economic growth: A time series analysis upon OECD countries

Even though identifying the causes of economic growth has been the subject of numerous empir- ical studies, little is known about the impact of unionist movements on differences in the process of economic growth between the countries. Besides, there is still no consensus on how unions af- fect a state’s economy. Therefore, in this study the impact of unionist movements on economic growth in 33 OECD countries from 1970 to 2011 is examined by using time series analysis. The results of the analysis show that the cointegration relationship between the unionist movements and economic growth is detected the other OECD countries except Czech Republic, France, Japan, Korea, Slovenia and Spain. Besides, as well as the countries in which the long run relationship is not obtained, the causal relationship between the mentioned variables is not observed for some countries, also. In addition, it is found that an increase in unionist movements would impact the process of economic growth negatively.
