This study focuses on teaching practice, which has a great importance and place in teacher education. The lack of reasearch on the topic was discussed and the clinical supervision approach, which could be used especially in the supervision of foreign language student teachers, was emphasised. The definition and stages of the clinical supervision approach are provided, the related research findings, and the need for a clinical supervision approach in teacher education programmes are discussed. As a result it has been suggested that teaching practice should be more systematic and that more research should be carried out about this subject.
