SANAT VE TASARIMDA SİNESTEZİ ETKİSİ: ÇOKLU ALGI YARATMAK

Bu çalışma, sinestezi kavramını, bilimsel tanımlamalar ile ele almakta ve sanat alanlarındaki karşılıklarını irdelemektedir. Çalışmanın odağını oluşturan sinestezi kavramı, en temel anlamıyla çoklu/bütünleşik algı olarak ifade edilebilecektir. Günümüzde sinirbilim alanının araştırma konuları arasında yer alan bu olgunun ve dolayısıyla bu tür deneyimler yaşayabilen bireylerin –sinestetlerin-, sanat alanında ne gibi çıktılar ortaya koyduğu da çalışmanın bir alt konusudur. Öte yandan çalışma, yalnızca bu yöndeki deneyimlerin sunulmasını değil; bu kavramının disiplinlerarası konumuna değinmeyi ve birden çok duyuya hitap eden sanat eseri ve tasarımların bu çerçevedeki rolünü incelemeyi de hedeflemektedir. Bu amaçla, sinestezi kavramı genel anlamda incelenmiş; sanat ve tasarım disiplinleri arasındaki konumu irdelenmiş ve çoklu duyumsamaya dayalı değerlendirmeler, bu kapsama örnek gösterilebilecek eserler ve tasarımlar üzerinden gerçekleştirilmiştir.

SYNESTHESIA EFFECT IN ARTS AND DESIGN: MULTI SENSORY APPEALS

This study, approaches the notion of synesthesia within the scope of scientific definitions and discusses its corrspondences in fields of art. The notion of synesthesia, which forms the basis of the study, can be defined as multi-sense or a union of senses, in the most general use. This notion,which is among the study areas of neuroscience today, and the outputs of such individuals –synesthethes- are also among the sub-topics of the study. Also, the study not only aims to reveal such outputs, but also tries to discuss its interdisciplinary position and the role of art works and designs that trigger multiple senses. For this purpose, synesthesia is dealt in a general manner, its role within the fields of arts and design is discussed, and multi sensory appealing experiences were assessed through such art works and designs.
