MİMARİ FOTOĞRAFIN TEMSİL ÖZELLİĞİ VE TASARIMDA FOTOĞRAFA BAKIŞIN ALGIMIZA ETKİSİ

Mimarlığa ait bilgilere, izlenimlere, yapısal çevreye ait birikimlerin çok azına kişisel tecrübeler ile ulaşılabilir. Bu bilgilerin bir çoğu sadece fotoğraflardan elde edilen bilgilerdir. Görsel bir ‘idealleştirme’ ile üretilen mimari fotoğraflar ile mimari nesne arasındaki duyumsal farklılaşmaların doğurduğu algı farklılıkları bu eleştirel çalışmanın temel çıkış noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Yayınlanan mimari fotoğraflardan, görsel materyalin analizine atıfta bulunan mimarlık ve onun temsil edilen imgesi arasındaki ilişkiyi kurgulamak, tasarım süreçleri için oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, günümüz mimarlığı ve fotoğraf sanatı arasındaki ortak konularla ilgili iletişim ve işlevsellikten yola çıkarak; mimaride fotoğrafın temsili sınırlarının anlaşılması ve fotoğrafın bir mekanı yeniden üretmedeki potansiyelini anlamaktır. Araştırma kapsamında, modern mimariye katkısı olduğu bilinen bazı tanınmış fotoğrafçıların çalışmaları, fotoğrafın temsil özelliğinin mimari üretim sürecine katkısını ve bunu tetikleyen potansiyel gerilimleri ele alacak şekilde yorumlanacaktır. Sonuçta iki boyutlu bir döküman olarak görülen fotoğrafın mimarlık alanında kullanımının evrimini gözleyerek fotoğrafik temsil ile tasarım geliştirme arasındaki simbiyotik ilişki vurgulanacaktır.

THE REPRESENTATION FEATURE OF ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND ITS EFFECT ON OUR PERCEPTION OF DESIGN

Very few of the architectural information, impressions and accumulations of the structural environment can be accessed through personal experiences. Most of this information is only from photographs. The basic starting point of this critical study is the differences in perception caused by the sensory differentiation between architectural photographs and architectural objects produced by a visual ‘idealization’. Establishing the relationship between architecture and its represented image, which refers to the analysis of visual material from published architectural photographs, is very important for design processes. The aim of this study is, starting from the communication and functionality related to common issues between today’s architecture and photography; Understanding the representational limits of photography in architecture and understanding the potential of photography in reproducing a space. Within the scope of the research, the works of some well-known photographers who are known to have contributed to modern architecture will be interpreted in a way to address the contribution of photography to the architectural production process and the potential tensions that trigger it. As a result, the symbiotic relationship between photographic representation and design development will be emphasized by observing the evolution of the use of photography, which is seen as a two-dimensional document, in the field of architecture.
