Bilgisayar teknolojisinin ortaya koyduğu "sanal nesne", somut olmayan ama somut olan nesneleri simüle eden, görüntüleme araçları sayesinde gözlemlenebilen bir ışık kümesi olup, sanatçı, sanatçının ifade etmek istediği ve malzeme üçgeninde bir yere sahiptir. Bu makale kapsamında, sanal nesnenin ne olduğu, özellikleri, gerçekliği, değeri, insanın sanal nesne karşısındaki estetik algılaması tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca, sanal nesnenin sanat için bir malzeme ve bir ifade olanağı olduğu örneklerle incelenmiş, sanal mekan ve sanal nesne ilişkisi bağlamında da incelenerek yeni özgün ifade olanakları araştırılmıştır.
The "virtual object", which is produced by computer technology, is a cluster of lights observed by means of virtualization tools and simulates concrete objects that are not concrete, resides (veya has its place) within the triangle of artist, artist's expression and material.Within the scope of this article, what a virtual object is, what its features, reality, value, aesthetical perception of human through a virtual object are has been argued. Also, through examples, virtual object as a material and an opportunity for expression for art has been examined, and the possibilities of new expressions through virtual space and virtual object relationship have been researched.
