Gereç ve Yöntem: Elektif torakotomi planlanan, 30 ASA I-III hasta; 15’ i yaşlı (65-80 yaş) (Grup I) ve 15’i genç (18-40 yaş) (Grup II) olmak üzere iki gruba ayrıldı. Hastaların rutin monitörizasyonu ve nöromüsküler monitörizasyonu (TOF-Watch-SR® NV Organon, Oss, The Netherlands) yapıldıktan sonra anestezi indüksiyonu yapıldı. Ardından 0.6 mg.kg-1 rokuronyum bromid uygulandı. Etki başlama süresi(TOF 0), klinik etki süresi(TOF yanıtı 2’ e ulaştığında), PTC sayıları, TOF 1 süresi, TOF %25, TOF %25-80 (derlenme indeksi) kaydedildi. Bulgular: Gruplar arası etki başlama süreleri, indüksiyonun klinik etki süresi, idame dozların klinik etki süreleri kıyaslandığında Grup I ‘de her üç parametrenin de anlamlı olarak yüksek olduğu saptandı (p

Determination of the effects of aging on PTC and TOF responses during neuromuscular blockade caused by rocuronium

Aim: The aim of this prospective study was to determine the influence of aging on posttetanic count (PTC) and trainof- four (TOF) response during intense neuromuscular blockade caused by rocuronium. Material and method: 30 ASA physical status I-III patients, 15 of whom were elderly (ages 65 to 80 yrs) (Group I), and 15 younger control patients (ages 18 to 40 yrs)(Group II), who were scheduled for elective toracothomy. After the rouitin monitorization and neuromusculer monitorization, anaestesia was induced. Then we applied 0.6 mg.kg-1 rocuronium. The onset time (TOF 0), duration of clinical effect (TOF responses reached 2) and number of PTC, duration of TOF 1, TOF %25, TOF %25-80 (recovery ındex) were recorded. Results: Comparision of onset time, duration of clinical effect of induction and maintenance dosage period between the groups revealed that all of the three parameters were significantly increased in Group I (p
