Iron deficiency induced thrombocytopenia

Demir eksikliği anemisi tipik olarak mikrositik anemi ve trombositoz ile karakterizedir. Fakat, demir eksikliğine bağlı trombositopeni ise sık değildir. Demir eksikliği, trombositopeninin nadir nedenlerinden birisidir. Hastalara yanlışlıkla immun trombositopenik purpura (ITP) tanısı konulabilir. Demir eksikliğine bağlı trombositopeni tanısı konulmadan önce trombositopeni yapabilecek diğer sekonder nedenler ekarte edilmelidir. Demir eksikliğine bağlı trombositopenide trombosit sayısı oral veya intravenöz demir tedavisinden 48 saat veya 3 hafta sonra normale gelmektedir.

Demir eksikliğine bağlı trombositopeni

BIron deficiency anemia is typically characterized by microcytic anemia and thrombocytosis. However, iron deficiency anemia induced thrombocytopenia is not common. Iron deficiency is one of the uncommon causes of thrombocytopenia. Patients may be diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) by mistake. Other secondary reasons which may cause thrombocytopenia should be eliminated before the patient is diagnosed with iron deficiency induced thrombocytopenia. Iron deficiency anemia induced thrombocytopenia, turned out to be normal within 48 hours or 3 weeks after the oral or intravenous iron treatment. Keywords: Iron deficiency, thrombocytopenia
