İslam Ortadoğuda yaygın olan bu bölgenin hukuki rejimlerinde özel bir etkiye sahip bir dindir. Anayasal belgeler değişik biçimlerde bu dini tanımaktadır. İslam aile hukuku heryerde uygulanabilirken, islam ceza hukuku ancak bazı ülkelerde uygulanmaktadır. Türkiye hukuk sistemi tamamen laik olan bölgenin tek islam ülkesidir.

Islam is the predominant religion of Middle East and enjoys a special status in the region's legal regime. Constitutional documents recognize it in various forms. Islamic family law remains applicable everywhere but has been significantly reformed in most states, while Islamic criminal law is in force only in some countries. Turkey is the only Muslim country in the region where the legal system is fully secularized.
