Menstrual Hygiene and Visually Impaired Women
Menstruation comprises thirty to forty years of women’s lives whether they are disabled or not. During this period, incorrect hygiene practices can have a negative impact on a woman’s health. Therefore, the healthy management of the menstruation period is rather important in terms of women's health. The lack of appropriate hygiene products and a woman’s inadequate knowledge of menstruation can have negative effects on reproductive health. The negative attitudes and preconceptions in society against both disability and menstruation also make menstruation management difficult. A visually impaired woman can find the healthy management of menstruation difficult. Little research exists in the literature about visually impaired women and menstruation management, and knowing the problems that visually impaired women have about menstrual hygiene is necessary in order to find solutions. This review aims to reveal the current situation of visually impaired women in menstrual hygiene management.
