Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %70.3'ü hasta yakınlarının, %87.8'i ise ebeveynlerin ağrılı işlemler sırasında hastaların/çocukların yanında olması gerektiğini ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin %40.1'i KPR sırasında hasta yakınları ve ebeveynlerin hastaların yanında bulunması gerektiğini belirtmişlerdir. Öğrencilerin akademik yılı arttıkça hasta yakınları ve ebeveynlerin işlemler sırasında hastaların ve çocukların yanında bulunmasını destekledikleri görülmüştür.Sonuç: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin ağrılı işlemler ve KPR sırasında hasta yakınları ve ebeveynlerin hastaların/çocukların yanında bulunmasını olumlu karşıladıkları belirlenmiştir. Araştırmamızda öğrencilerin işlem komplike oldukça hasta yakınları ve ebeveynlerin hastaların ve çocukların yanında olmasını tercih etmedikleri belirlenmiştir

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the views of nursing students about family members and parents presence during painful procedures and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in patients. Methods: This descriptive study consisted of 337 nursing students in two universities in Ankara, Turkey during the 2014-2015 academic year. The data were collected by a questionnaire developed by the authors. The questionnaire included demographic characteristics of participants and open and closed-ended questions about family members and parents presence during painful procedures and CPR. The data were evaluated by frequencies, percentages and chi-square test. Results: Most of the participants had positive statements about family (70.3%) and parent presence (87.8%) during painful procedures. Moreover, two-fi fth of participants stated that family/parent should be present with their patients during CPR. It was determined that students in later academic years supported family members and parents presence during painful procedures and CPR.
