Genetic and biochemical nature of an active phage resistance system in lactococcus lactis subsp.lactis MA83
Adsorption of phages to Lactococcus lactls subsp. lactls MA83 were Inhibited by the exopolysaccharide material that produces In the presence of 32.7 kb plasmid. Major constituents of the exopolysaccharide were determined as galactose, galactosamlne, rhamnose and phosphate by the end of chemical analysis. Moreover receptor sites on L lactls subsp. lactis MA83 strain for phages 0la2, 0p78, 0r4 and 0p81 were found to be protein In nature.
