Türkiye’deki Sosyal Bilim Yayınlarında “Sözlü Tarih”in Kullanımı: Bir Meta-Analiz

Başta tarih olmak üzere eğitim, sosyoloji, mimarlık ve hatta arkeoloji gibi disiplinlerde kaleme alınmış çalışmalar giderek “sözlü tarih”e alan açmaktadır. Ancak kullanım sahasındaki yaygınlık, sözlü tarihe atfedilen anlamı da çeşitlendirmektedir. Burada aslolan soru, yöntem olarak geliştirilen sözlü tarihin, yöntem harici kullanım türlerinin neler olduğu ve bu farklı türde anlamsallaştırılan sözlü tarihin akademik yayınlarda kullanım sıklığıdır. Çalışma, sözlü tarihin farklı kullanımlarının olduğu ön kabulüne dayanmaktadır. Bu kabulün sorgulanması, çalışmanın başlıca gayesidir. Bunun için Dergipark hizmet sağlayıcısında yer bulan akademik yayınlar arasından “sözlü tarih” anahtar kavramını içerir yayınlara odaklanılmıştır. Literatür taraması yöntemiyle bu çalışmaya, 164 yayın (makale ve bildiriler) dâhil edilmiştir. Tespit edilen yayınlar, konuları bağlamında hangi alanlara dâhil oldukları, “sözlü tarih”i kullanım sıklığı ile yıllara göre dağılımları, kullanım şekli ile nitelikleri gibi dört farklı soru özelinden değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Değerlendirme için meta analizi uygulanmış, kapsayıcı özetler oluşturabilmek için tablo ve görsel malzemelerden istifade edilmiştir. Analiz sonucu, bir yöntem olarak kullanıldığı yayınların mevcudiyetiyle birlikte sözlü tarihin, bir metin, bir terim, kuram ve hatta gelenek olarak çalışmalarda yer bulduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bu da, sözlü tarihin yanıltıcı bir takım analojilerle çalışmalarda yer aldığını göstermektedir. Sözlü tarihin bir yöntem olarak kullanılan yayınların önemli bir kısmında ise ilgili yöntem, salt bir “görüşme” olarak kavranmakta, metodolojik boyutu göz ardı edilmektedir

Usage of “Oral History” in Publications on Social Sciences in Turkey: A Meta-Analysis,

Studies published in disciplines such as history, education, sociology, architecture, and even archeology are making an increasing use of “oral history”. However, its prevalence also contributes to the diversification of the meanings associated with oral history. The main questions raised in the current study focus on the types of non-method applications of oral history (which was developed as a method), and the frequency of various types of oral history in academic publications. The study is based on the presumption that oral history is used in various ways. Questioning this presumption is the main purpose of the study that an analysis has been conducted by focusing on the publications that include the key concept of “oral history” among the academic publications found in the Dergipark service provider. Using the literature review method, 164 publications (articles and papers) were included in the analysis. The identified publications were analyzed on four different questions such as which fields they belonged by subject, the frequency of the use of “oral history” and its distribution by years, and the specific way it was used. Metaanalysis was applied for the analysis, besides, tables and visual materials were used to create comprehensive summaries. In this analysis, it was found out that oral history was included in the studies as a text, a term, a theory and even a tradition, in addition to some publications where it was used as a method. This shows that oral history is used with a number of misleading analogies. In most of the publications where oral history was used as a method, it was applied merely as an “interview,” by ignoring its methodological dimension
