THE STRATEGY OF LEARNING FOR SPECIAL NEEDS PERSONS IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN THE LIGHT OF MODERN EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES MENTAL DISABILITY AS A MODEL

This study aims to identify the educational aspect of people with special needs, in didactical knowledge approach –in an analytical descriptive approach- that focuses on the detection of mental disabilities in the learning process; in order to identify the semantic amount stored by the term “special needs persons”, and its relationship with other terms- that occurs in the semantic field itself. And identify the manifestations of mental disability, and to what extent we can benefit from the theories concerned with learning strategies, through their applications on special needs persons? And among the most important strategies we have the strategy of Ausubel in organizing teaching. This study concluded that the concept remains problematic; since it is not standardized term, it is preferable to use the term “people with special needs”. Educators and applied linguists have given the opportunity to study people with special needs, as it is a special education. They are then required to take this category of people with a special consideration. It has also concluded that the mental disability is a disability that has a strong effect on the students with special needs in the higher education, due to its close link to mental processes. The study concluded with a series of recommendations.
