Sosyal bilgiler öğretiminin genel amaçları incelendiğinde, sosyal bilgiler dersinin bilgi, beceri ve tutum kazandırması gereken temel bir ders olduğu görülür. Ancak ülkemizde bazı eğitim kurumlarında sosyal bilgiler derslerinin ağırlıklı olarak bilgi temelliöğretildiği görülmektedir. Bunun en önemli nedenlerinden bir tanesi, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin, sosyal bilgiler öğretiminin özellikle beceri boyutu hakkında yeterince bilgiye sahip olmamasıdır. Günümüzde ise bilgiye bakış değişmiştir. Bilgi olguları, kavramları, ilkeleri ve süreçleri ezberlemek olarak görülmemektedir. Bilgiyi kullanma, bilgi edinmeden daha fazla vurgulanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bilgiler programlarında yer alan beceriler hakkında sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Çalışma nitel bir anlayışla yürütülmüş olup, veriler İzmir ili Menemen ilçesinde görev yapan öğretmenlerle yürütülen yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir. Çalışmaya katılan öğretmenler rastgele seçilmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin önemli bir kısmı sosyal bilgiler dersini bilgi temelli bir ders olarak görmektedir. Ayrıca öğretmenlerin önemli bir kısmının sosyal bilgiler dersinde öğretimi yapılabilecek, müfredatta yer alan beceriler ve bu becerilerin öğretimi hakkında yeterince bilgilerinin olmadığı anlaşılmaktadır.

When the general objectives of teaching social studies are examined, it is seen that the social studies lesson is a basic course that should gain knowledge, skills and attitudes. Yet, it is seen that the social studies courses are predominantly taught based on knowledge in some educational institutions. One of the most important reasons of this is that the social studies teachers do not have enough knowledge especially about the skill dimension of social studies teaching. Today the view on knowledge has changed. Knowledge isn't perceived as memorizing the facts, concepts, principles and processes. To use the knowledge is much more emphasized than to acquire it. The purpose of this study is to reveal the views of Social Studies teachers about the skills contained in social studies studies. The study has been carried out with qualitative approach and the data has been obtained via the semi-structured interviews which have been carried out by teachers who work in Menemen, İzmir. The teachers participating in the study were randomly selected. An importantpart of the social studies teachers who have taken part in the study see the social studies lesson as a knowledge-basedcourse. In addition, it is seen that a significant portion of the teachers do not have enough knowledge to be able to teach social studies about the skills in the curriculum and teaching them.
