RİSK TOPLUMU: BELİRSİZLİK, KORKU VE GÜVEN ARAYIŞI ARASINDA ÖZNE

Bilimsel ve teknolojik bilginin geldiği düzey ve üretilen araç gereçler, insan eylemi üzerinde bir takım sakıncalar ortaya çıkarmıştır. Sahip olunan bilgi düzeyi ile elde edilen bu durum ise içinde yaşadığımız dünyanın sosyal, bilimsel ve teknolojik alanlarının risk toplumu olarak teorileştirilmesine neden olmuştur. Mevcut toplumsal yapıya dayanan risk toplumu analizi, insanlığın geleceğe dair belirsizliklerle ve tehlikelerle karşı karşıya olduğu iddiasına dayanmaktadır. Modern sonrası dönemin insanlık durumunu betimlemeye çalışan risk toplumu teorisi, mevcut halin eleştirisini sunarken, verili durumdan kurtulabilmenin olanaklı olduğu iddiasını da taşımaktadır. Risk toplumu teorisi Ulrick Beck tarafından ortaya atıldıktan sonra dünya çapında büyük ilgi görmüştür. Risk toplumu kavramsallaştırmasının bu derece ilgi görmesinin temel nedeni içinde yaşanılan dünyanın bir çözümlemesine dayanması ve risk toplumu diye adlandırılan toplumsal koşullar içindeki öznenin durumunu derinden etkilemesidir. Bu çalışma Ulrick Beck’in Risk Toplumu teorisi çerçevesinde, korku kültürü (Furedi, 2001) ve güven kavramları üzerinden öznenin konumunu tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu tartışma ise U. Beck’in risk toplumu analizinde yer alan belirsizlik kavramının bireyde ve toplumsal yapıda nasıl bir etki yarattığı üzerinden gerçekleştirilecektir. Modernitenin özneye sunduğu bir takım imkânlar, günümüzde öznenin yaşamını tehdit eder hale gelmiştir. Korku durumunun hâkim olduğu öznede yeni alternatif sistem arayışları ise belirsizlik taşıdığı için risklidir. Bu durum da özneyi eylemsizliğe itmektedir. Toplumu bekleyen en büyük risk ise çaresiz bir özne ve kaygı içindeki toplumdur.

RISK SOCIETY: THE SUBJECT WITHIN UNCERTAINTY, FEAR AND THE SEARCH FOR TRUST

The level scientific and technological knowledge has reached and the equipment that has been produced up to now have some negative effects on human action. The situation that has emerged with this level of knowledge has caused the social, scientific and technological areas of the world we live in to be theorized as risk society. Risk society analysis which is based on the current social structure argues that humanity is faced with future uncertainties and threats. The theory of risk society, which tries to portray humanity in the postmodern era, criticizes the status quo and claims that it is possible to get rid of the given situation. After the risk society theory was propounded by Ulrich Beck, it has drawn significant attention throughout the world. The main reason why the conceptualization of the risk society has attracted so much attention is that it is based on the analysis of world we live in and it deeply affects the situation of the subject experiencing the social circumstances called risk society. This study aims to discuss the state of the subject with a view to the concepts of culture of fear (Furedi, 2001) and trust within the framework of Ulrich Beck’s Theory of Society. This discussion will be based on how Beck's concept of uncertainty in the analysis of risk society influences the individual and the social structure. Nowadays, certain opportunities that modernity provides to the subject have been threatening the life of the subject. The search for a new alternative system is risky for the subject in dominant state of fear because it carries ambiguity. This situation pushes the subject to inertia. The greatest risk to society is a desperate subject and an anxious society.
