MİCHAL CZAJKOWSKİ’NİN TÜRKİYE ANEKDOTLARI ESERİNDE TÜRK İMGESİ

1841 yılında İstanbul'a gelen Michal Czajkowski (1804-1886) ömrünün 31 yılını Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda (1841-1872) geçirir. Michal Czajkowski, 1830-1831 yılları Leh ayaklanması bastırıldıktan sonra Fransa'ya yerleşir, burada edebi ve siyasi çalışmalarını sürdürür. Sonra Leh ayaklanmasının birçok lideri gibi Osmanlı Devleti’ne sığınır ve siyasi faaliyetlerini artık burada yürütür. 1850 yılında İslam dinini kabul eder, Mehmed Sadık Paşa adını alır ve Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda askeri hizmete başlar. 1853-1856 yıllarında Kırım Harbi sırasında Türkiye’de Kazaklar ve Polonyalılardan oluşan Lejyonun komutanlığını yapar ve Rusya’ya karşı Osmanlı tarafında savaşır. Birçok hikâye ve anı türünde esere imza atan Czajkowski'nin Türkiye Anekdotları (Турецкие Анекдоты. Из тридцатилетних воспоминаний Михаила Чайковского Садык паши) adlı eseri yazarın vefatından sonra Lehçe'den Rusça'ya çevrilerek 1895-1904 yılları arasında ‘Russkaya Starina’ dergisinde yayımlanır. Türkiye Anekdotları eseri, yazarın bizzat kendisinin tanıklık ettiği döneme ve olaylara ışık tutar; ayrıca Polonya tarihi, Leh halkının milli mücadelesi, Osmanlı ve Polonya ilişkileri açısından önemli bir anı eseridir. Aynı zamanda Mehmed Sadık Paşa, söz konusu bu eserinde, otuz yıldan fazla yaşadığı 19. Yüzyıl Osmanlı toplumu, yaşam biçimi ve o dönemde imparatorluk topraklarında yaşayan halklarla ilgili detaylı bilgiler verir. 19. Yüzyılın ikinci yarısında yazılan bu eser, Leh asıllı aydınların Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ile ilgili yazdığı eserlerin devamı niteliğindedir. Bu makalede imgebilimsel yaklaşım kullanılarak Michal Czajkowski’nin Türkiye Anekdotları eserinde yer alan Türk imgesi ve farklı toplumların birbirine yaklaşımları gözler önüne serilmeye çalışılacaktır.

THE IMAGE OF TURKS IN TURKISH ANECDOTES BY MICHAL CZAJKOWSKI

Michal Czajkowski, who came to İstanbul in 1841, spent 31 years of his life in Ottoman Empire (1841-1872). After the quell of the rebellion in Poland in 1830-1831 (so called the November Uprising), he moved to France where he started his literary and political activity. Later, he took refuge in the Ottoman Empire like many leaders of Polish uprising and continued his political activities there. In 1850, he accepted Islam, changed his name to Mehmed Sadyk Pasha and began his military service in Ottoman Empire. In the years of 1853-1856, he was the commander of the Legion consisting of Kazaks and Polacks during the Crimean War and fought against Russia on the side of Turks. The Turkish Anecdotes (Турецкие Анекдоты. Из тридцатилетних воспоминаний Михаила Чайковского Садык паши) by Czajkowski, who had written many stories and memoirs, were translated from Polish to Russian and published after his death in the journal of Russkaya Starina between 1895-1904. The work of Turkish Anecdotes shed light to the period of time and the events witnessed by the writer himself. The work is a significant document of Polish history, the struggle for independence of the Polish nation and about the relationship between Ottoman and Poland. In his literary work, Mehmed Sadyk Pasha, gave a detailed information about the 19th century Ottoman society where he had lived for more than 30 years, about the lifestyle of this society and the nations that were living in the lands of the Empire during that period. The work written in the second half of the XIX century was a continuation of the works of Polish intellectuals about the Ottoman Empire. This essay analyzes the image of Turks in Turkish Anecdotes and reveals a mutual perception of various societies involved within the theoretical framework of imagological approach.
