BENLİK İMAJI VE ÖTEKİLEŞTİRİLME: SOSYAL KATEGORİLERİN OLUŞTURULMASINDA FARKLI ANLATIM BİÇİMLERİ

Bu çalışmada biyografi ve interaktif analizi kuramları çerçevesinde konumlandırma ve sosyal kategorilerin incelenmesi için kullanılan analiz yaklaşımları baz alınmıştır. İstanbul'da Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümün'de okuyan iki kız öğrencinin anlatımlarında benlik imajları ve ötekileştirilme deneyimleri interaktif analizi yöntemiyle incelenerek betimlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Söz konusu iki öğrenci Almanya ve Avusturya'da doğmuş ve/veya büyümüş, okul sürecinin büyük kısmını Almanya ve Avusturya'da geçirmiştir. Almanların ve Avusturyalıların Türklerin tahsil görmeleri konusundaki negatif görüşlerinin etkisinde kalmıştır ve bu olumsuz deneyimin sonucunda da Türkiye'ye dönmeye karar vermiştir. Her ikisi Türkiye'yi kabul edilir bir gelecek açısından öğrenim görme ve mesleki ilerleme imkanları sağlayan alternatif bir yol olarak görmüşlerdir. Çalışmanın analiz kısmında veri olarak yukarıda belirtilen kaynak kişilerle ayrı ayrı yaptığım röportajlardan elde edilen farklı konuşma bölümleri kullanılmıştır. Seçilen konuşma bölümlerinin analizinde interaktif ve dilsel olarak oluşturulan sosyal kategoriler betimlenmiştir; benlik- ve öteki kategorilerine atfedilen özellikler, eylem şekilleri ve değerlendirmeler hangi dilsel araçlarla ve yöntemlerle oluşturuldukları gösterilmiştir; konuşma sürecinde kaynak kişilerin kimliklerinin konumlarını ve yönlerini nasıl yapılandırdıkları belirlenmiştir. Analizde şu sorulara cevaplar aranmıştır: Konuşma esnasında oluşturulan benlik ve öteki kategorileri için hangi etnik atfetmeler önem taşımaktadır? Benlik ve öteki kategorileri nasıl oluşturulmaktadır? Kategoriler hangi karakteristik özelliklerle ve eylemlerle oluşturulmaktadır? Sosyal aidiyetlik açısından kategoriler nasıl bir rol oynamaktadır ve nasıl değerlendirilmektedir?

SELF IMAGES AND THE ATTRIBUTIONS OF OTHERS: DIVERGENT FORMS OF THE DEVIATION OF SOCIAL CATEGORIES

This contribution endeavours to undertake an analysis of interaction which will attempt to record the depictions of self images and the attributions of others inherent in a narrative voiced by two GermanTurkish German Studies students in Istanbul while placing particular emphasis on the analytical concepts of “positioning” and “social categorisation”. The participants were born and raised in Germany and Austria respectively. Due to negative views on the educational potential of Turks held by the majority populations both young women decided to immigrate to Turkey. They regard Turkey as an alternative for a viable future educational and professional path. By using two different excerpts from the interviews, the analysis aims to describe the interactive and linguistic production of social categorisation as well as to demonstrate how and through what means and methods the attribution of characteristics, modes of acts and attitudes is expressed through self- and external categorisations. It will also examine how the positions and aspects of the individual’s narrative identity emerging from the depiction are constructed. The following questions will be examined: which ethnic attributions are relevant in the conversations in terms of self and other categorisation and how are they constructed? Through what characteristic means and methods are they constructed and represented? What role do they play with regard to the expression of social position and how are they evaluated?
