Covid-19 Krizinde Karar Verme: Bir Vaka Analizi
Çalışmanın amacı, kriz dönemlerinde sağlık yöneticilerinin karar verme davranışlarının incelenmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda sağlık yöneticisi adaylarına yönelik vaka analizi uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Kriz zamanları hızlı ve doğru karar verme davranışının gösterilmesi gerektiren zamanlardır. Yöneticilerin kriz dönemlerinde aldıkları kararlar krizin seyrini etkileyebilmektedir. Bu doğrultuda sağlık yöneticisi adaylarına bir sağlık kurumunda yönetici rolü oynatılarak COVID-19 pandemisinde karşılaşabilecekleri durumlara yönelik olarak karar vermeleri istenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda karar verme sürecinde öğrencilerin özgün fikirler üretemedikleri ve sadece kendilerine sunulan seçeneklerden çözümler sundukları sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca eğitim yılı ile karar verme davranışı arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır. Sağlık yöneticisi adayı öğrencilerin eğitim müfredatlarında vaka çözümleme, tartışma, yaratıcı drama gibi katılımcı etkinliklerin klasik öğretme ve öğrenme teknikleri ile birlikte daha yaygın olarak kullanılmasının onların meslek hayatına hazırlanmalarında etkili olacağı düşünülmektedir.
DECISION-MAKING IN COVID-19 CRISIS: A CASE STUDY
The present study aims to investigate the decision-making behaviors of healthcare managers during periods of crisis. For this purpose, a case analysis has been applied for healthcare manager candidates. Times of crisis are times that require a behavior of prompt and accurate decision-making. Decisions made by managers during times of crisis can affect the course of the crisis. In this context, healthcare manager candidates were asked to participate in a role play of being the manager at a healthcare institution and making decisions for situations they could face in the COVID-19 pandemic. The study concluded that the students could not produce unique ideas in the decision-making process and only offered solutions from the options they were provided with. Furthermore, no statistically significant difference was found between the year of education and decision-making behavior. We believe that a more widespread use of participatory activities such as case solving, debates, and creative drama together with classic teaching and learning methods in the education curriculum of students who are healthcare manager candidates would be efficient in their preparation for professional life.
