Kültürlerarası İletişim Duyarlılığının İzlerini Aramak: “İletişim Fakültesi Öğrencileri Örneğinde Bir Araştırma”
Küreselleşmenin, uluslararası ilişkilerin ve farklı kültürler arasındaki etkileşimin giderekdaha yoğun ve girift bir hal aldığı günümüz dünyasında kültürlerarası iletişim duyarlılığıoldukça güçlü bir talep ve gereksinim olarak kendini göstermektedir. Dolayısıyla, kültürlerarasıduyarlılık düzeyini irdelemeye yönelik çalışmalar hem akademik hem de toplumsal açıdanönemli bir rezerv niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında da Chen ve Starosta’nın (2000)geliştirdiği Kültürlerarası Duyarlılık Ölçeği kullanılarak, kültürlerarası iletişim duyarlılığıSelçuk Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi öğrencileri örneğinde incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, belli değişkenlerdoğrultusunda kültürlerarası iletişim duyarlılık düzeylerinin farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığıda analiz edilmiştir. Yöntem olarak saha araştırmasının kullanıldığı çalışmada 302 öğrenciyeyüz yüze anket uygulanmıştır. Faktör analizi sonuçlarına göre; Chen ve Starosta’nın ölçeğindeki5 faktörün tümüyle yinelenmediği ve 4 faktör grubunun ortaya çıktığı saptanmıştır. Diğertaraftan; ERASMUS Değişim Programından Yararlanma İsteği, farklı ülkelerin medyasınıtakip etme sıklığı, sosyal medyada farklı kültürlerden insanlarla iletişim kurma sıklığı, farklıkültüre sahip bir ülkede yaşama isteği ve yabancı dil bilme düzeyine göre kültürlerarası duyarlılıkdüzeylerinin anlamlı bir biçimde farklılaştığı ortaya çıkmıştır.
Looking for the Clues of Sensitivity of Intercultural Communication: "A Survey on the Sample of Communication Faculty Students"
Intercultural communication sensitivity has shown itself as a substantially strong de‐mand and requirement in todayʹs world that globalization, international relations and differ‐ent cultures become increasingly more intense and complex. Therefore, to analyze the level of intercultural sensitivity studies carries a key quality reserve both for academically and socially. In the context of this study, intercultural communication sensitivity examined through the students of Selcuk University Communication Faculty, using the Intercultural Sensitivity Scale developed by Chen and Starosta (2000). In addition, whether to acquire a different char‐acter in their sensitivity level of intercultural communication in accordance with certain vari‐ables were analyzed. Method used in the study was field survey that conducted a face to face poll to 302 students. According to the results of the factor analysis, 5 factors in the scale of Chen and Starosta did not completely repeat and 4 factors in the group came out, were ascer‐tained. On the other hand, it comes into picture that the level of intercultural sensitivity sig‐nificantly undergoes a change according to the request of benefiting from ERASMUS Ex‐change Program, the frequency of follow up different countriesʹ media, the frequency of com‐munication with people from different cultures in social media, desire to live in a country in different culture, the level of data for foreign languages.
