İlköğretim Okullarında ve Liselerde Görevli Öğretmenlerin Kullandıkları Disiplin Stillerinin Karşılaştırılması

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim okullarında ve liselerde görevli öğretmenlerin kullandıkları disiplin stillerini karşılaştırmaktır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Tomal (1999, 2001) tarafından geliştirilen “Öğretmen Disiplin Stilleri Envanteri” adlı anket kullanılmıştır. Anket, zorlayıcı, boş verici, uzlaşmacı, destekleyici ve görüşmeci disiplin stillerinin her birinden 6 sorunun yer aldığı toplam 30 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya Niğde İlinde görevli 261 ilköğretim okulu öğretmeni ile 166 lise öğretmeni katılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler araştırmanın amacına uygun olarak aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma ve t testi istatistiksel yöntemleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, ilköğretim okullarında ve liselerde görevli öğretmenlerin en çok görüşmeci ve en az boş verici disiplin stilini kullandıkları belirlenmiştir. İlköğretim okullarında görevli öğretmenlerin, liselerdeki öğretmenlere göre destekleyici disiplin stilini daha çok kullandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Comparison of the Disciplinary Styles Which High School and Elementary School Teachers Use

The purpose of this study was to compare the disciplinary styles which high school and elementary school teachers use. The data of the research were collected with an inventory called “Teacher Discipline Style Inventory” developed by Tomal (1999, 2001). The questionnaire is based upon a model consisting of five-discipline styles: Enforcing, abdicating, supporting, compromising and negotiating. There are six questions for each discipline styles with a total number of thirty questions. 261 elementary school and 166 high school teachers participated in this research in Ni¤de. The data were analysed using means, standard deviation and t-test. The results of the study indicated that elementary and high school teachers most frequently used negotiating discipline style and rarely used abdicating discipline style. It was found that elementary school teachers use supporting discipline style more frequently than high school teachers do.
