İNSANI GELİŞTİRME TARTIŞMALARINA BİYOETİK BİR BAKIŞ

Uygulamalı etiğin önemli dallarından biri olan tıp etiği, özellikle yeni tıbbi tedavi yöntem ve teknolojilerinin İnsanlar üzerinde denenmesiyle günümüz felsefi tartışmalarında daha çok yer almaya başlamıştır. Biyoetik disiplini İse yüksek biyoteknoloji uygulamalarının İnsanların yanısıra diğer canlılar üzerinde de uygulanması sonucu ortaya çıkan ahlaki problemleri ele almaktadır. İnsanı geliştirme içerdiği ahlaki soru ve sorunlar itibariyle hem tıp etiği hem de biyoetik disiplini altında tartışılabilecek kapsamlı bir konudur. Yardımcı üreme teknikleri, preimplantasyon genetik teşhis ve taramalar, CRISPR-Cas9 gibi gen düzenleme yöntemleri, zeka, kişilik veya bedenin belirli özelliklerini geliştirmek üzere tasarlanmış İlaçlar, İnsanların normal sınırlarını aşan protezler ya da yaşamın uzatılmasına yönelik çalışmalara baktığımızda insanı geliştirmeye yönelik bu teknolojilerin artık bilimkurgu konusu olmaktan çıkıp, hayatlarımızda yer almaya başladığını görmekteyiz. Bu gelişmeler yakın gelecekte belki de bizimle ilgili en temel parametreleri değiştirecek, İnsan yaşamını alıştığımız halinden bambaşka bir şeye dönüştürerek paradigma değişimine sebep olacaktır. Bu nedenle, tıp etiği ve biyoetik gibi disiplinlerin bu şekildeki güncel tartışmalarının felsefi zeminde ele alınarak, özellikle bireyler ve toplum üzerinde nasıl sonuçları olabileceğinin ayrıntılı bir şekilde irdelenmesi ve etik bir çerçeve sağlanması konusunda disiplinler arası işbirliği yapılması elzemdir. Etik bakış açısı, bu teknolojilere dair sosyal, hukuki ve politik olarak hangi adımları atmamız gerektiği konusunda bize yol gösterici olacaktır.

A BIOETHICAL VIEW FOR HUMAN ENHANCEMENT DEBATE

Medical ethics, as one of the İmportant branches of applied ethics, has become increasingly İnvolved İn contemporary philosophical debates, most particularly by testing emerging medical treatment methods and technologies on human beings. The discipline of bioethics deals with the ethical problems arising from the application of high biotechnology on human beings, as well as other living creatures. Human enhancement İs a comprehensive İssue that can be discussed under both medical ethics and bioethics İn terms of having moral matters and questions. Concerning the developments such as assisted reproductive techniques, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and screenings, gene editing techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9, drugs designed to İmprove intelligence, personality or specific body features, prosthetics that transcend the normal limits of human beings or researches on life extension, we observe that these human enhancement technologies that we used to see as science fiction now have started to take place İn our lives. It’s possible that, İn the near future these developments will change the most basic parameters about us and will lead to a paradigm shift by transforming human life İnto utterly diff erent thing from something we have experienced before. Therefore, İt İs crucial to scrutinize the concequenses both on individuals and society İn detail and to provide an ethical framework with interdisciplinary collaborations by discussing such debates of medical ethics and bioethics on a philosophical basis. The ethical perspective will be a guide for us on what steps we need to take socially, legally, and politically regarding these technologies.
