XVI. yüzyıl Osmanlı coğrafyasında yaşayan Muhyî-i Gülşenî, hem Batı hem de Doğu medeniyetlerinde uzun yıllar süren 'ilk ve ilahî dili' yeniden inşa etme çabalarına ilişkin ilk pratik tecrübeyi Bâleybelen adını verdiği dil çalışmasıyla ortaya koymuştur. Bu araştırmada böyle bir teşebbüsün arkasında yatan sosyo-ekonomik ile dinî ve siyasî arkaplan tesbit edilmeğe çalışılmış; bu ilk yapma dili icad edenler ile icad edilen ortam tasvir edilmiştir. Bâleybelen dilini içeren yazma eserlerin günümüze ulaşan Paris ve Kahire nüshaları üzerinden genel bir çerçevesi, dilbilgisi kuralları ile kelime hazinesi üzerinde durulmuştur.

The XVI.th-century Ottoman scholar Muhyî-i Gülşenî made the first attempt to reconstruct the 'first and sacred language' in his linguistic work called "Bâleybelen". Here we investigate the socio-economical and political background of this attempt of Gülşenî and his followers. First of all, we describe the inventors of this first artificial language and the environment they lived in. Then we try to draw a general framework setting out from the extant Paris and Cairo copies of "Bâleybelen" and study the grammar and vocabulary of the language.
