Viskinâme

Bu makalenin temel amacı, viskinin kültürel tarihinin çeşitli coğrafyalardaki izini sürmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, viskinin üretim aşamaları, ekonomi ve siyasetle kurduğu ilişkisi ve toplumsal tabakalaşmadaki rolü incelenmiştir. Sinema dünyası ve televizyon reklamlarından çeşitli örnekler aracılığıyla, viski, anavatanından (İrlanda ve İskoçya) başlayarak yayılma alanı olan Amerika, Hindistan ve Japonya’da yarattığı kültürel etkisiyle ele alınmıştır. Viskinin Türkiye toplumundaki olumsuz çağrışımı Türkiye’nin sosyo-ekonomik gelişim evreleri bağlamında değerlendirilmiştir

On Whiskey

The main aim of this article is to trace some lines of cultural history of whiskey in various geographies. Taking this purpose as our framework, we have analyzed the process of whiskey production in terms of economic and political conjuncture and its role on social stratification. Through various examples from cinema and TV commercials, we have examined the cultural impact of the spread of whiskey from its homeland (Ireland and Scotland) to America, India and Japan. Similarly, we have interpreted the negative connotation of whiskey in Turkish society through socio-economic development processes of Turkey.
