American College For Girls ( Arnavutköy/İstanbul)

What we know as Robert College now was, in fact, formed in the past by two separate institutions. Robert College for boys on the Bebek Campus was fused with the American College For Girls on the Arnavutköy campus in 1971. The Bebek campus was left to the newly established Boğaziçi University. Robert College was created in 1863 by Cyrus Hamlin with the financial support of Christopher Rheinlander Robert for the education of boys. Following this, a group of women supporters from Boston founded in 1890 a high school for girls aiming at the education of students coming from various regions of the Ottoman Empire. In my article, I will try to narrate you as a student at ACG from 1959 to 1968 what we experienced in classes and the social everyday life at College.
