A study concerning the therapeutic effectiveness of the enrofloxacin and parapoxvirus D1701 combination in calves with enzootic pneumonia
Therapeutic effectiveness of the combination therapy with Enrofloxacin, an antibiotic which was used frequently in the respiratory diseases of ruminants and Parapoxvirus D1701 that is an immunomodulator were investigated in calves with enzootic pneumonia. For that reason, 15 calves with enzootic pneumonia were divided two groups; first group (n=7) which was treated with Enrofloxacin and Parapoxvirus D1701 combination, and second group (n=8) which was treated only with Enrofloxacin, respectively. At the third day of the treatment, cure rate was 74% in group which was treated with combination therapy, and 25% in group which was treated with monotherapy. No death was detected in both groups. As a result, we conclude that combination of Parapoxvirus with Enrofloxacine resulted in more effective therapy than the Enrofloxacine monotheraphy in the treatment of calves with enzootic pneumoniae.
