Bu çalışmada; Perseus miti, kahramanlık mitosu çerçevesinde arketipler ve semboller yönünden ele alınarak incelenmektedir. Mitoloji ile psikoloji arasında ilişki kurularak, arketipsel semboller Perseus kahramanlık miti üzerinden yorumlanmaktadır. Böylelikle insanın kendini ve dünyayı anlama çabasında mitlerin yol gösterici rolü psikoloji ile uğraşanlar için önemli görülmektedir. Yirminci yüzyılın en ilginç kişiliklerinden biri olan Jung ve onun Analitik Psikolojisi bu incelemenin temelini oluşturmaktadır. Perseus miti, ana eksen olarak Jung ve onun takipçilerinin görüşleri çerçevesinde ilerler. Bu çalışmayı kapsayan Perseus kahramanlık mitosunun arketipsel incelenmesi, Jung ve Campbell'in eserleri başta olmak üzere, çok sayıda literatürdeki evrensel sembollerin, analitik psikolojinin temel kavramlarıyla birlikte ilişkilendirilmesi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu değerlendirmeler, kadın/anne ile erkek/çocuk arasındaki çatışma, diğer yandan bir kişinin kendisine üstün gelen bir güce karşı verdiği mücadele ile bu gücü yenmesi ve üstün gelmesi olarak özetlenebilir. Sonuç olarak, Perseus'un yolculuğu insanın kendi içine daha doğrusu kendi "ben"ine doğru yaptığı kahramanca bir yolculuktur. Ve bu yolculuk geçmişte olduğu gibi bugün de ve çağlar boyu tüm insanlığın ortak bilinçdışında yaptığı evrensel bir yolculuktur.

In this study, the myth of Perseus is dealt with and analyzed with regard to the archetypes and symbolswithin the framework of heroism. The archetypal symbols are interpreted over Perseus heroism myth byrelating mythology to psychology. Thus, the guiding role of the myths in one’s struggle to get to knowoneself and the world is considered to be crucial for the individuals engaged in psychology. Jung, one of the most interesting personalities of the 20th century, and his Analytical Psychology, lay the foundationof this analysis. The myth of Perseus mainly proceeds according to the viewpoints of Jung and hisfollowers. The archetypical analysis of Hero Perseus in myths, which is the scope of this study, wascomplemented through the association of universal symbols in numerous works in literature, primarily inthose of Jung and Campbell, with the fundamental concepts of psychology. These evaluations can besummarized as the conflict between the woman/mother and man/child, as well as one’s struggle againstthe power reigning over him; defeating this power and being superior to it. In conclusion, Perseus’sjourney is heroic journey toward one’s inner side, in other words, toward one’s “self” and as it has beenin the past and as it is today, so it will be a universal journey of the humankind in commonunconsciousness through the ages.
