The Struggle of The Seleucids for Domination in Anatolia

Anatolia has been a place of commercial, military and political importance in the Hellenistic period and afterwards. The successors of Alexander the Great, who saw themselves as the heir of Alexander the Great, regarded this important geography as indispensable for the continuation of their power. From the Battle of Kyropedin to the Battle of Magnesia, where they were defeated by Rome, the Seleucids made a military, political and administrative effort to dominate Anatolia. In order to ensure the full sovereignty of Anatolia, they have fought with the Hellenistic Kingdoms established in Anatolia, especially the Ptolemaios. In order to provide the support of the cities in Anatolia, they sometimes tried military and sometimes socio-cultural methods. This process lasted about ninety years. The aim of this study is to try to reveal the struggle of the Seleucids, being one of the Hellenistic period kingdoms, to dominate Anatolia by using the ancient sources and epigraphic sources of the period.
