Ortaçağ Hıristiyan Dünyasında "Haram Aylar": "Tanrı Barışı ve Ateşkesi"

Bu çalışma İslamiyet öncesinde Arap dünyasında görülen, savaşmanın yasak olduğu haram ayları ile Ortaçağ Avrupası'nda sulh ve adaleti tesis etme ve şiddetin neden olduğu tahribatları sınırlama maksadıyla ilan edilen "Tanrı Barışı'nı karşılaştırarark incelemektedir. Çalışma Doğu'da ancak nüfuzlu kişiler veya gelenekler sayesinde sağlanabilen barışın, Batı'da kilise önderliğinde geçirilen yasalar ile daha etkin olarak sağlanabildiğini tespit etmektedir. Bunun yanında, Batı'da barış yalnızca barışı tesis edenler ve Hıristiyanlar için uygulanırken diğerleri bu barışın dışında tutulmuşlardı, İslam öncesi Arab toplumunda ise haram aylarında sağlanan barış herkesi kapsamaktaydı

"Forbidden Months" in Medieval Christian World: "The Peace and Truce of God"

This study comparatively examines the concept of Forbidden Months, which prohibited warfare and violence, in the pre-Islamic Arab world and "The Peace and Truce of God" concept of Medieval Europe, which aimed to curb violence and establish peace. The study shows that peace in the East could only be established with the efforts of effective personalities and traditions, while peace in the West was more effective because the Church initiated legislative efforts and institutionalized the process. Nevertheless, the peace in the West applied only to Christians, while the peace established in the pre-Islamic Arabia applied to all indiscriminately.
