GERÇEK POTANSİYELLİK: BİR ALFRED NORTH WHITEHEAD İNCELEMESİ

Batı felsefesinde yüzyıllarca hâkim olan Aristotelesçi metafizik şema, her varlığı kendi kendisine özdeş olarak ortaya koyan ve dolayısıyla her varlığı kendisinden ibaret sayan bir ülküyü benimsemiştir. Bu kapsamda her tekil varlık kendi kendisiyle, dolayısıyla kendi potansiyelliğiyle sınırlıdır. Tekil varlığın potansiyelliği, sadece kendi varoluşu çerçevesinde değerlendirilmektedir. Whitehead’in dayanışmayı merkeze oturtan kozmolojik şeması, her varlığı, kendi ötesine geçmeye kayıtlı bir potansiyellik düşüncesini devreye sokmak istemektedir. Bu minvalde her varlık, kendi ötesi için potansiyel bir veridir (datum). Kendi ötesindeki bir yaratıcılık potansiyelliğidir. Bu çalışma, Whitehead’in felsefesindeki gerçek potansiyellik düşüncesini ele almakta ve onu daha görünür kılmayı hedeflemektedir.

REAL POTENTIALITY: AN ANALYSIS OF ALFRED NORTH WHITEHEAD

The Aristotelian metaphysical scheme that dominated Western philosophy for centuries adopted an ideal that posits every being as identical to itself and therefore considers every being as consisting of itself. In this context, every singular being is limited to itself, and therefore to its own potentiality. The potentiality of a singular being is evaluated only within the framework of its own existence. Whitehead's cosmological scheme, which places solidarity at the center, wants to bring into play the idea of a potentiality that registers every being to go beyond itself. In this respect, every being is a potential data (datum) for beyond itself. It is a potentiality of creativity beyond itself. This study deals with the idea of real potentiality in Whitehead's philosophy and aims to make it more visible.
