Okul sistemi, sahip olduğu çok geniş fiziki imkanları ve insan kaynakları ile, olağanüstü hallere hazırlık ve olağanüstü hallerin toplum üzerindeki yıkıcı etkilerinin azaltılmasında, önemli görev ve sorumluluk taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul sisteminin, bu görevi ne derecede yerine getirdiğini tespit etmektir. Araştırma, elli altı okul müdürü üzerinde yürütülmüştür.Veriler, yüzde ve frekans ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, okulların, olağanüstü hallere tam olarak hazır olmadıkları, olağanüstü hallerde yapılması gerekenlerle ilgili planlamalarda, ilgili kurumlarla eşgüdümde, sorunlar olduğu ve okul müdürlerinin bu konularda bilgi ve güven eksikliği içinde bulundukları tespit edilmiştir.

The schools, with their large physical opportunities and human resources, have had important mission and great responsibility for preparing towards extra ordinary situations and for decreasing the destructive effects of the catastrophies on the society. The main aim of this research is to determine to what extent the schools have met this mission. The study includes 56 school principals. The data were analyzed by using frequencies and percentages. The study has revealed that the schools are not well ready for extraordinary situations, the problems have been felt in the process of planning and coordinating and the principals are in the lack of knowledge and trust on that subject.
