Sosyoloji ve din sosyolojisi alanında kıymetli eserlere imza atan Celaleddin Çelik'in son kitabı "Şehrin Halleri" 2021 yılında Ketebe Yayınları'ndan çıkmıştır. Çelik, on bölümden oluşan kitapta şehrin tarihi süreçte geçirdiği değişim, dönüşüm ve kırılmaları onun önemli simgeleri (meydan, kitap, sanat, konut, mezarlık gibi) üzerinden tahlil etmiştir. Kitapta şehrin çeşitli halleri; tarihsel, dini ve kültürel arka planıyla birlikte ele alınmıştır. Kitabın genelinde modern şehri tanımlayan özelliklerin altı kalın bir şekilde çizilmiştir. Bu yeni şehir tipinin kurumsallaşmış, bürokratik, rasyonel, seküler ve bireyci bir yaşam çevresi olarak karakterize olduğu vurgulanmıştır. Bu anlamda “Şehrin Halleri” geleneksel şehir tecrübesini ve İslam şehrinin karakteristik özelliklerini dikkatlere sunmanın yanında özellikle modern şehrin karmaşık dünyasını anlamamıza yardımcı olmaktadır. Modern zamanlarda şehrin tarihten ve gelenekten kopması ise kitabın esas vurgusunu oluşturmaktadır. Eleştirel bir bakış açısı kitabın geneline hâkim durumdadır. In modern times, the city's separation from history and tradition constitutes the main emphasis of the book. A critical perspective dominates the entire book. The contribution of the literary style was also used in the study, which was written in a fluent style.
