Yükseköğretimde okul terki: Nedenler ve çözümler

Bu araştırmanın amacı, yükseköğretim düzeyinde okul terkinin oluşum sürecini, bu süreci etkileyen etmenleri ve okul terkinin önlenmesine yönelik çözüm önerilerini, okul terki yaşayıp öğrenci affı ile öğrenimlerine geri dönen öğrencilerin ve öğretim üyelerinin görüşlerinden yararlanarak ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan olgubilim yaklaşımıyla desenlenmiştir. Çalışma grubunu, 2010–2011 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Trakya Üniversitesi’ne bağlı farklı fakülte ve yüksekokullarda öğrenim gören 12 öğrenci ve üç farklı fakülteden 6 öğretim üyesi oluşturmuştur. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada öğrencilerin ve öğretim üyelerinin okul terki nedenleri olarak akademik uyum sorunları ve maddi sıkıntılar üzerinde sıklıkla durdukları görülmüştür. Öğrenciler ve öğretim üyeleri, etkili bir danışmanlık desteğinin öğrencileri okul terkine yaklaştıran sorunların birçoğuna çözüm olabileceği görüşündedirler.
