THE IMPACT OF OPTIMISM AND PESSIMISM IN ILYA ABU MADI’S POETRY

Ilya Abu Madi, the greatest poet of the immigration poetry represents a special and unique case, not only amongst the immigration poets but among all the Arab poets as well. The poet has blended the themes of optimism and its paradox pessimism in such a way that iconized one of his major creative styles and artistic features. I have tackled this humane and artistic paradox in the poet’s work through the artistic and analytical disposition of the definition and reasons of both pessimism and optimism throughout his poetry. I have also included in the study other critics’ opinions, and the discussion and analysis of such opinions. My first reference while working on such discussions and analysis was the poet’s work itself, since I believe that the poet’s poetry is the real and honest way and the objective mirror through which we can genuinely see the poet. Frankly speaking, the poems of the great poet Abu Madi have always been a rich record of his life and a clear disposition of his thoughts and humane, national and personal beliefs, in addition to being a comprehensive archive of all his philosophical and ideological thoughts.
