Pilonidal hastalık

Pilonidal hastalık, genç erişkinleri etkileyen bir durumdur. Ağırlıklı olarak sakrokoksigeal bölgede yerleşen bu hastalık, ciltteki bir çöküntüden kist, apse veya kronik infeksiyonla beraber yaygın sinus oluşumuna kadar değişen bir semptom kompleksinden oluşur. Hastalığın temel nedeni kıl gömülmesidir. İdeal tedavi için net bir fikir birliği bildirilmemiş olmakla birlikte çok sayıda cerrahi ve cerrahi dışı tedavi seçenekleri öne sürülmüştür. Bu yazıda bu sorunun sunumu, patogenezi ve tedavisi incelenecektir.

Pilonidal disease

Pilonidal disease is a common entity that affect young adults. It consists in a symptoms complex with presentations ranging from asymptomatic pits to the cyst with abscess or chronic infection and extensive sinus formation that are predominantly located in the sacrococcygeal region. Hair insertion is the essential cause of the disease. Numerous nonoperative and operative treatment options have been proposed, although no clear consensus as to the optimal treatment has been reported. This article reviews the presentation, pathogenesis and the treatment of this problem.
