A rare agent in surgical site infection: Sphingomonas paucimobilis (A case report)
Sphingomonas paucimobilis, a yellow-pigmented, aerobic, glucose non-fermenting, Gram-negative bacillus, is a rare cause of human infection normally associated with immunocompromised hosts. The bacterium, commonly observed in land and water habitats, can rarely lead to hospital infections. In this report we present a case of surgical site infection due to S.paucimobilis.
