Intravenous Catheter Infections: Problems and Solutions
Intravenous catheters are being widely used for many purposes in todays medical practices. The most important complications caused by the catheter use are the catheter related bloodstream infections. Catheter related bloodstream infections are one of the leading causes of healthcare associated infections, which result significant morbidity and mortality and substantial excess cost. In this review, problems caused by bloodstream infections related with catheter use and their solutions are sum- marized.
