Çocuklarda retrofaringeal apse

Derin boyun infeksiyonları, derin servikal fasya ile çevrili boşluklarda selülitten başlayarak flegmon ve apse gelişimi ile sonlanan infeksiyonlardır. Derin boyun apseleri peritonsiller, retrofaringeal ve parafaringeal apseleri içerir. Derin boyun apseleri aerop ve anaerop bakterilerin birlikte oluşturduğu polimikrobiyal infeksiyonlardır. Bu bölgedeki infeksiyonlar hızla boynun diğer alanlarına yayılabilir ve larinks, büyük damarlar, kraniyal sinirlerde hasar oluşturarak ciddi komplikasyonlara neden olabilirler. Retrofaringeal apsede başlıca semptomlar boyunda ağrı, boyun hareketlerinde kısıtlılık, ateş yüksekliği, boyunda şişlik, disfaji ve iştahsızlıktır. Erken tanı ve uygun tedavi ciddi komplikasyonların önlenmesinde gereklidir.

Retropharyngeal Abscess in Children

Deep neck infections are those that start as cellulitis and phlegmon and progress to abscess formation in the spaces surrounded by deep cervical fascia. Deep neck abscesses include peritonsillar, retropharyngeal and parapharyngeal abscesses. Deep neck abscesses are polymicrobial infections caused by aerobic and anaerobic bacteria together. Infections in that region extend rapidly and easily to other regions of neck and can cause life threatening complications by causing injury to the vital structures of neck such as larynx, great vessels and cranial nerves. The main symptoms in retropharyngeal abscesses are pain in the neck, limited neck motion, fever, swelling at neck, dysphagia and anorexia. Diagnosis and treatment of these infections is important to prevent severe complications.
