Serum sialic acid, total protein and albumin levels in cows with metritis treated with intrauterine oxytetracycline

In this study, the effects of partial hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury on erythrocyte and plasma electrolyte balance, some serum biochemical parameters and liver cell histology were evaluated. Liver were subjected to 60 min of partial warm ischemia by clamping the hepatic pedicle which includes the A. hepatica, V. portae vessels and bile duct of the left and middle liver lobes. After 30 minutes reperfusion, blood samples and liver specimens were taken for evaluation. Ischemia-reperfusion .injury induced increased (p<0.001) serum Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and decreased (p<0.05) plasma sodium (PNa) level and changes in hepatocyte histology. It was concluded that partial hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury which causes severe hepato-cellular dysfunction induces changes also in the erythrocyte and plasma electrolyte balance.
