The Impact of Decentralization on Economic Growth

Two different panel data sets are used, one unbalanced and one balanced over the 1980-2000 periods to examine the relationship between fiscal decentralization and economic growth. It is found evidence supporting a positive effect of fiscal decentralization on economic growth in the unbalanced panel data of developing and OECD countries while no significant relationship in the balanced panel of OECD countries.
