Bu araştırma, Türkiye'de çeşitli üniversitelerde sosyoloji, halk bilim, müzikoloji, müzik öğretmenliği anabilim dallarında " müzik ve sosyoloji" alanında yazılmış lisansüstü tezlerin tespit edilip, sınıflandırılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma taşıdığı amaç ve bu amaca uygun olarak izlenen yöntem ve toplanan verilerin niteliği açısından durum saptamaya yönelik betimsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın evrenini, müzik ve sosyoloji ortak alanında yapılmış bütün tezler, örneklemini ise 1985 -2014 yılları arasında yapılan lisansüstü tezler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma, sosyoloji ve müzik alanlarıyla, araştırmacının ulaşabildiği lisansüstü tezlerle, ulaşılan tezlerin anahtar kelimelerinde, başlıkta ve özette yer alan sosyolojik kavramlar ile sınırlıdır. Araştırmaya tezin başlığı ve özetin, tezin içeriğini yansıttığı sayıtlısıyla yola çıkılmıştır. Araştırmada müzik ve sosyoloji alanında yapılmış lisansüstü tezlere ilişkin veri toplarken YÖK tez arama merkezinin internet sayfası aracılığıyla "müzik ve sosyoloji, müzik ve toplum, müzik ve siyaset, müzik ve din, müzik ve politika, müzik ve propaganda, müzik ve kültür, müzik ve kültürel kimlik, müzik ve toplumsal sınıf, müzik ve cemaat, müzik ve cemiyet, müzik ve örgütlenme, müzik ve dernek" ifadeleri ile taranmıştır. Elde edilen 132 tezin başlık, özetleri incelenmiş; yapıldıkları üniversitelere, disipline,tez türlerine, yıllara, enstitülere, göre 5 ana başlık altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Araştırma, sosyoloji ve müzik ile ilgili yapılacak araştırmalara kaynak oluşturması ve araştırmalarda konu seçiminde referans olması bakımından önemli sayılmaktadır

This study aims the determination and classification of the master’s theses written in the fields of “music and sociology” at different universities’ divisions of sociology, folklore, musicology and music teaching, in Turkey. This is a descriptive study in terms of its aim, method and the quality of the date collected; aiming at situation determination. Population of the research is composed of all theses conducted in the fields of music and sociology and its sample is composed of master’s theses conducted between 1985 and 2014. The study is limited within sociology and music fields, master’s theses which the researcher was able to reach, and sociological concepts existing in the key words, titles and abstracts of the theses. The research started with the premise that the title and the abstract of the thesis reflect its content. While collecting the data on the theses in the field of music and sociology by means of using the thesis scanning center web site of the Higher Education Council (YÖK), the scanning process is conducted by using the phrases of “music and sociology, music and public, music and politics, music and religion, music and propaganda, music and culture, music and cultural identity, music and social class, music and community, music and society, music and organization, music and association”. Titles and abstracts of 132 theses reached have been analyzed and classified in terms of five categories: the university where the thesis is conducted, discipline, type of the thesis, years and graduate schools. This study is regarded as significant in terms of forming a source for further studies in the fields of sociology and music, and constituting reference while selecting a topic in researches
