INVESTIGATION OF PRE-SERVICE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ QUESTIONS RELATED TO DIFFERENT TEXT OF TYPES
The purpose of this research is to examine questions prepared by pre-service primary school teachers related to different text of types. Qualitative research method was used in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in the research. The study group of the research is composed of 64 pre-service primary school teachers trained in Karadeniz Technical University Primary School Teacher Training Department and selected through sampling of easily accessible cases from purposeful sampling methods. The questions that pre-service primary school teachers wrote related an expository text and a narrative text were analyzed. Expository and narrative texts in the Reading Comprehension Test developed by Kuşdemir (2014) and composed of open-ended questions were used to examine the questioning skills of the pre-service primary school teachers related to the texts. The questions are analyzed according to revised Bloom's taxonomy. Questions prepared by pre-service primary school teachers were analyzed separately by the three field specialist researchers, the cognitive levels of the written questions were determined according to the "revised Bloom taxonomy" and frequency and percentage distributions were given. The results obtained from the research reveal that the questions prepared by pre- service primary school teachers are generally at low cognitive level. In the light of the findings, some suggestions are developed both to improve questioning skills of pre-service primary school teachers related to different texts and for the later studies.
