Tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinin okul sağlığı eğitim programı: Ege Üniversitesi örneği

AMAÇ: Okul sağlığı hizmetleri disiplinler arası ilişkilerle yürütülür. Hekimler okul sağlık ekibinin temel üyelerindendir. Bu nedenle, mezuniyet öncesi eğitimde okul sağlığı konusunun müfredatta yer alması gerekir. Bu yazının amacı, Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi (EÜTF) öğrencilerine verilen “okul sağlığı” eğitim programını ve geliştirilen okul sağlığı eğitim filmini tanıtmak ve eğitim programına ilişkin öğrenci geri bildirimlerini sunmaktır. YÖNTEM: Birinci sınıflara ait veriler 2010 yılı Kasım ayında, altıncı sınıflara ait veriler ise 2007-2008 öğretim yılı içinde toplanmıştır. Halk sağlığı eğitim programında okulların toplu yaşanılan ortam olarak ele alınıp değerlendirilmesi birinci sınıfta gerçekleştirilmektedir. Teorik ders ve küçük gruplarda “okul sağlığı filmi” gösterimi ardından, tartışmalarla konu hakkında eğitim tamamlanmaktadır. Tıp fakültesi 6. sınıf öğrencilerinde ise ilköğretim okullarında yürütülen eğitim programlarıyla, okul hekiminin gerçekleştireceği koruyucu hizmetlerden bazılarını uygulama olanağı sunulmaktadır. BULGULAR: Birinci sınıf öğrencileri okul sağlığı eğitiminde film gösterimini çoğunlukla olumlu bulmuştur. Film gösteriminde yaşanan teknik aksaklılıklar, bildirilen başlıca olumsuzluktur. EÜTF altıncı sınıf öğrencileri de, sağlık eğitimi uygulamasının eğitim verdikleri ilköğretim öğrencileri ve kendileri açısından olumlu geçtiğini bildirmiştir. SONUÇ: Okul sağlığı eğitimi teorik ders, film tartışması ve uygulamalarla tamamlanarak, hekim adaylarının ileride çalışabilecekleri birinci basamak kurumlarda veya okul revirlerinde sunacakları hizmetlere hazırlıklı olması sağlanmaktadır.

AIM: School health services are conducted with interdisciplinary relations. Physicians are the main members of the school health team. Taking this into consideration, school health issue should be in the curriculum of undergraduate education. This paper aims to introduce the school health education program in Ege University School of Medicine, the training film developed and to present the evaluations of the students about the training. METHOD: The data were collected in November of 2010 for the first year of medical students and in the 2007-2008 academic year for the sixth grade medical students. In the first year of medical school, within the public health education program, schools are examined as places of community health. A lecture and the film presentation to small groups are completed with discussions afterwards. In the sixth grade of medical school, with the education program they present at elementary schools, they have the opportunity to practice some of the preventive services of a school physician. RESULTS: Most of the first grade students have positively evaluated the film presentation on school health. Technical problems have been declared as the major negative feedback. The sixth grade students have considered the school health training as a positive experience for them and for the elementary school students they have trained. CONCLUSION:The school health education containing a lecture, a film presentation and practices enable future physicians to prepare themselves for the services they may provide at primary health care units or school infirmaries.
