Bu çalışmada, 1325 (1909/1910) yılında yayımlanan Tehzîb-i Ahlâk ve Islâh-ı Nefs kitabı bugünkü alfabeye çevrilerek çeşitli açılardan incelenmiştir. Tehzîb-i Ahlâk ve Islâh-ı Nefs, Talîm-i Kırâat'in ikinci cildini oluşturmaktadır. Eser, Kitapçı Arakel Efendi tarafından yazılmış, Muallim Naci tarafından tashih edilmiştir. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma tekniklerinden doküman analizi kullanılmıştır. Eserde 25'i bilgilendirici, 12'si öyküleyici, 6'sı şiir olmak üzere 43 metnin kullanıldığı belirlenmiştir. Bu ciltte "Terbiyye-i Medeniyye Dersi, Fennî Ders, Ahlâkî Ders, Fennî ve Ahlâkî Ders" başlıkları altında 36 metne yer verildiği, metin aralarına eklenen 7 serbest metinle bu sayının 43'e ulaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Metinlerin ortalama 476 kelime uzunluğa sahip olduğu, her metnin ortalama 7 bilinmeyen kelime ve 9 metin altı sorusundan oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Kitapta en fazla nasihat (f=16) ve bilimsel (f=15) konulu metinlere yer verilmiştir. Birinci ciltten farklı olarak, derslerin, kıraatler şeklinde değil, kategorilere göre düzenlendiği; bu ciltte siyâsî konulara da değinildiği, çeşitli vav işaretlerinin kullanıldığı ve bazı metinlere vecizelerle giriş yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca çalışmada, ikinci cildin; sayfa sayısı, metin sayısı, ortalama kelime sayısı, ortalama bilinmeyen kelime sayısı ve ortalama metin altı soru sayısı açılarından birinci ciltten daha üstün olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır

In this study, the book of Tehzîb-i Ahlâk ve Islâh-ı Nefs, published in 1325 (1909/1910), was studied from various aspects, after being transcribed into the current alphabet. Tehzîb-i Ahlâk ve Islâh-ı Nefs was the second volume of Talîm-i Kırâat. The book was written by Kitapçı Arakel Efendi and revised by Muallim Naci. The study was carried out by document analysis of the qualitative research techniques. In the study, it was found that the second book had 43 texts, including 25 informative, 12 narrative and 6 poetry. In this volume, there were 36 texts under the headings of "Terbiyye-i Medeniyye Dersi, Fennî Ders, Ahlâkî Ders, Fennî ve Ahlâkî Ders". After 7 free texts were added, total number of the texts became 43. It was determined that the texts had an average of 476 words in length, included an average of 7 unknown words and 9 undertext questions. In the book there were mostly advisory (f=16) and scientific (f=15) texts. It was found out that, unlike the first volume, lessons in the second volume were arranged as categories instead of reading texts; political issues were mentioned, too; some texts started with aphorisms and various “vav” markers were used in those texts. On the other hand, in this study, it was concluded that the second volume was superior to the first volume, in terms of number of pages, number of texts, average number of words, average number of unknown words and average number of under-text questions
