Japon bıldırcınlarında deneysel aflatoksin zehirlenmesine karşı kekik uçucu yağı (Origanum vulgare L.) kullanımı

Bu çalışmada, Japon bıldırcınlarında aflatoksin (AF) toksikasyonuna kekik uçucu yağının (KUY) etkisi araştırılmıştır. On günlük yaşta toplam 120 Japon bıldırcını, her birinde 30 adet olmak üzere 4 deneme grubuna ayrılmıştır. Mısır-soya küspesine dayalı AF içermeyen bazal rasyon kontrol rasyonu olarak kullanılmıştır. Buna göre: I) Kontrol (K): bazal rasyon; II) K+2.5 mg/kg AF; III) K+ % 0.1 KUY; IV) K+2.5 mg/kg AF+% 0.1 KUY şeklinde hazırlanan 4 farklı deneme rasyonu 35 gün süreyle deneme gruplarına ad libitum yedirilmiştir. Performans parametreleri haftalık olarak belirlenmiş¬tir. Deneme sonunda, sadece AF içeren rasyonları tüketen-bıldırcınlarda canlı ağırlık artışı ve yem tüketimi önemli derece¬de azalmıştır. Fakat, AF içeren rasyonlara KUY ilavesiyle AF'den dolayı azalan canlı ağırlık artışı ve yem tüketimi önemli derecede artmıştır. Aflatoksin içeren rasyonla beslenen bıldırcınlarda canlı ağırlık artışındaki kümülatif azalış % 16.3 iken, AF içeren rasyona KUY ilavesiyle % 1.7 artmış, yine yem tüketimindeki kümülatif azalış AF içeren rasyonu tüketen grupta % 17.3 olurken, AF içeren rasyona KUY ilavesiyle bu azalış sadece % 2 olmuştur. Sadece KUY içeren rasyonu tüketen bıldırcınların yemden yararlanma katsayıları diğer gruplardan daha düşük olmuştur. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, Japon bıldırcınlarında AF'den kaynaklanan olumsuz etkilerin önlenmesinde KUY'nm etkili olabileceği söylenebilir.

Effect of thyme essential oil (Origanum vulgare L.) supplementation on performance of japanese Quail exposed to experimental aflatoxicosis

Thyme essential oil (TEO) was evaluated for its ability to reduce the deleterious effects ofAF in Japanese quail. It was incorporated into the diets containing 2.5 mg/kg total AF. In the present study, 120 10-d-old Japanese quail were randomly distributed into four experimental groups (30 birds per group) and fed the following diets for 35 days: I) Control (C): bazal diet; II) C+2.5 mg/kg AF; III) C+0.1% TEO; IV) C+2.5 mg/kg AF+1% TEO'ofdiet. Each treatment consisted of 10 repli¬cates of 3 quail. Performance parameters were determined weekly. Feed were given as ad libitum. Results showed that by the end of the trial, feeding alone AF-containing significantly decreased body weight gain and feed consumption during the experiment. The addition of TEO to an AF-containing diet significantly reduced the deleterious effects ofAF on body weight gain and feed consumption. Body weight gain was reduced by 16.3% in quail consuming the AF diet without TEO, but increased by 1.7% for quail consuming the AF plus TEO diet. Similarly, feed consumption was reduced 17.3% in birds consuming the AF diet without TEO, but by only 2% for birds consuming the AF plus TEO diet. Feeding TEO alone caused significant improved in feed conversion ratio during the experiment compared with the other groups. These re¬sults suggested that TEO effectively diminished the detrimental effects ofAF on performance in this study.
