KARADENİZ’DE BİR OSMANLI MADEN YERLEŞKESİ: KAB-I MADEN KAZASI (1264-1856)

Samsun kırsalında bir eşkıya gurubu tarafından keşfedilen altın madeni yörenin kaderini değiştirmiştir. Mert Irmağı’nın doğu yakasında yer alan arazilerde nodül hâlinde tespit edilen altın madeni işlenerek Kırım yöresinde piyasaya sürülmüştür. Rusya Çarlığı bu durumu Osmanlı makamlarına rapor etmiş ve tedbir alınmasını talep etmiştir. Samsun kırsalındaki eşkıya takibi sonrasında eşkıyaya mali kaynak oluşturan altın madeni incelenmiş ve işletmeye değer bulunmuştur. Ceb-i Hümayun Hazinesine bağlanan işletme doğrudan Trabzon Valisi tarafından idare edilmeye başlanmıştır. Altın madeni nedeniyle de Samsun, Sivas vilayetinden alınarak Trabzon’a bağlanmış ve yöredeki altın madeni 1856 yılına kadar işletilmiştir. Madenle birlikte oluşturulan yeni yerleşim mekânı ve yöredeki sosyal, demografik ve ekonomik değişimler çalışmada arşiv kaynakları ile değerlendirilmiştir.

A Diggers’ Settlement in The South Black Sea: The Town of “Kab-ı Maden” (Melting Pot) (1264-1856)

Golden nodules, discovered by a bandit group in the vicinity of Samsun drastically changed the fate of the district. A golden nodules, scattered all around the Mert River of the eastern side of the Samsun were extracted from the area and engraved to mint fake Ottoman coins and introduced in to the Crimean markets of the Russia. Russia demanded to stop this illegal forgery and urged the Ottoman administration to solve the problem. Ottoman administration executed the bandit affair and found out that the golden ore has beneficiary to operate. The new founded golden ore tied to Sultan’s private treasury and administered by Trabzon governors. Therefore the Samsun district extracted from the Sivas Province and added in to Trabzon Province and the golden ore in the district had been operated till 1856. Alongside with the golden ore, the territorial demographic changes, social and economic welfare are all scrutinized in this study with the help of the archival sources.
