Doğal Felaket / Yapay Zeka: Dünyanın Sonu, Yeni Cemiyetler ve Sanat

Afet ve daha çok dünyanın sonu meselesiyle bağlantılı gördüğümüz savaş gibi doğrudan olmasa da insan yapımı problemlerin sonucu olarak zuhur eden felaketlerin (Amerika’nın felaketlerle bir dünyanın sonu meselesi olarak cebelleşmesinde olduğu gibi) tarihsel bir süreç içinde günümüzdeki dünyanın sonu söylemlerine doğru yol almaları arasındaki farkı ve benzerlikleri tartışan bir yazı. Bunu yaparken de son yirmi yıldır önce Adapazarı depremi sonra da Amerika’da katastrof meselesi ve New Orleans üzerine yazan ve fotoğraf çeken Hakan Topal’ın bu çalışmalarıyla elinizde tuttuğunuz felaket sayısının insan merkezli düşünmeyi bırakma, felaketin yarattığı cemiyet gibi temel meselelerini tartışıyor. Kısacası dosya yazıları üzerine tefekkür ederek Topal’ın sanat ve teori arasında Timothy Morton’a paralel kurduğu bağlantıyı irdeleyen bir nevi diyalog.

Natural Disaster/Artificial Intelligence: The End of the World, New Communities and Art

This article discusses the differences and the similarities between the disasters and the catastrophes such as war, which we consider to be related to the end of the world, that come about as consequences of man-made problems (like the US combating these as a matter of the armageddon) in a historical process. To that aim, the article discusses the works of Hakan Topal who has been writing on and photographing various subjects ranging from Adapazarı earthquake to the catastrophes in the US and New Orleans for the past 20 years and the fundamental themes such as abandoning anthropocentric thinking and community built by catastrophe that are tackled in this issue. In a nutshell, this is a dialogue investigating the parallels between art and theory established by Topal with references to Timothy Morton and the articles in this issue.
